What this calculator does
Bazi, also called the Four Pillars of Destiny, is a Chinese and East Asian system that turns a birth moment into eight characters. Two for the year, two for the month, two for the day, two for the hour. The character that matters most is the upper one of the day pillar, called the Day Master, and it stands for you. Everything else in the chart is read as a relationship to it.
Enter your birth date and this page builds all four pillars, counts the five elements, works out whether your Day Master is strong or weak, identifies your chart structure and Useful God, checks twenty-two classical stars, and lays out this year, the next twelve months and your ten-year luck cycles. The reading is written out in full rather than left as a table of symbols.
Everything runs inside your browser. Your birth data is never sent anywhere, because there is no server to send it to. There is no account, no payment and no limit on how many charts you read.
Common questions
- I don't know my birth time. Can I still use this?
- Yes. Leave the hour field empty and the Hour Pillar is skipped. You still get the year, month and day pillars, the five-element balance, your structure and Useful God, the stars that don't depend on the hour, and all the yearly and ten-year cycles. Only the parts specifically tied to the hour drop out.
- Why does it ask for my birth country?
- Because the Hour Pillar runs on true solar time, not clock time. Clock time is set by a national standard meridian, and most places sit some distance east or west of it. The correction is (your longitude minus that meridian) times four minutes, with another hour removed if summer time was in effect. Choosing your country applies that correction automatically.
- How accurate is this?
- The Day Pillar is exact. It uses the reference date 1949-10-01 = 甲子, cross-checked against an astronomical ephemeris over more than a thousand dates. Many apps use a wrong reference and land two days off. The year and month pillars use average solar-term dates, so a birth on a boundary day, roughly 3 to 5 February or the 4th to 8th of any month, can shift by one and is worth confirming against a precise almanac.
- Is my birth data stored anywhere?
- No. The whole calculation happens in your browser and there is no server behind this page that could receive it. The only thing saved on your device is your chosen display language.
- Why does the reading sound blunt?
- Because a reading that flatters you is not useful. Each section states the trait, how it actually plays out, what it costs, and what to do about it. Nothing is reframed as a hidden strength to make it easier to read.
- Can I read charts for other people?
- Yes, as many as you like. Enter their birth details the same way. The share button copies a link that reproduces the exact chart, so you can send someone their own reading.
